PATIO HOUSE

Set on a steep windswept coastline, facing the sunset and unique views of the Cycladic isles, the stone house settles into the landscape, its dry-stone walls an extension of the contour lines.
The program was extensive: a main house, 2 independent guest houses, a separate housekeeper's pavilion, as well as an 80 sq m swimming pool. In order to accommodate the brief and address the steep terrain, the volumes are carved into the slope, at times separating away to create open spaces and outdoor living areas.
The main building is organized around an open patio garden, a green space protected by the wind and visible from the main public areas, a counterpoint to the expanse of blue sea. Paved courtyards alternate with planted roof terraces, as the original landscape seamlessly embraces the building.
